Aaliyah Dana Haaughton rose to notoriety after she released her debut album Age Ain't Nothing But A Number in the year 1994. The album, launched when she was only 15 years of age was certified Gold. The album was part of a group that was greatly inspired by R. Kelly and it placed her in the limelight. The year 1996 saw her release her second album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. The album contained the top-selling track If Your Girl only had known. Aaliyah's second album, One in a Million, was released in 1996. It featured the top hit single"If Your Girl Only Knew. She was also as a character in Romeo Must Die, a action/romance film starring Jet-Li. Joel Silver, film producer and director of the film Romeo Must Die caught her at an awards ceremony. She was in 2002 when she appeared as involved in the Anne Rice-produced thriller Queen of the Damned. The Matrix Sequels saw her play Zee and appeared on The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions that same year. The singer had four Grammy nominations for 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2003. The actress is the very first generation of Indian-American who was born and raised in Connecticut. Mann is an abbreviation of her first name in marriage, Mankad. Aarti is a combination of Aarti Majumdar as well as Aarti Munn as her professional names. Her acting career started in the mid-2000's with minor parts in movies and TV. Some of her most notable roles include Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. She's appeared in many commercials including Volvo's international car manufacturer. The actress currently resides with her family in Los Angeles along with her spouse, daughter, and husband. She is also pursuing her acting career.
